The film opens with Dhoni’s childhood, at a time when he was a goalkeeper in his school’s football team. But lack of surprises aside, this one’s a story of a railway TC who goes on to lift the World Cup - which in itself has enough fodder for translating into an inspiring tale of overcoming all odds to achieve ultimate glory. A large part of this blame can be pinned on the film’s trailer, a small part on Wikipedia. But this "untold story" has little that will enlighten Dhoni fans about his life prior to donning the blue jersey. Blending cricket and cinema - the two things that unite Indians - may be a million-dollar marketing plan. The fact that this one is based on the life and times of India’s most successful cricket captain is enough to inspire fans, critics and even those who’re just curious, to rush to the nearest theatre.
